First stop!!

We found out first stop for our Eclectic Tico food tour.

There's this little place in Barrio Escalante that started out as a cafeteria and now is expanding its menu.
Last Saturday we went there and had a very lovely meal. The food is really good and it's exactly what we were looking for! They mix costarrican flavors along with innovative ingredients.

We will continue our quest, but we are glad to anounce, we are one stop closer!

Food Tour?

What is a food tour?

I belive there is nothing well defined on what a food tour should be.
What is clear to me is that it has to include great food...! I'm not referring to gourmet food, I'm talking about authentic, local flavors that represent the place you are in.

In Costa Rica we have traditional food as well as eclectic foood due to the diferent influences we've had as a country. We are planing 2 different tours, one will be traditional and the other will include more of our modern or eclectic approach of Costa Rica's food.

Of my past experiences in other food tours I have come to  favor tours that include information about local  history combined with the food you will enjoy.  This historic background helps remember the food ever better, as you  remember the history behind it, combined with the flavors.

Samples are what make it fun. Its like being on a party  where you want to try everything on the table. That's the food tour experience, you get to try a little bit of everything and end up satisfied.

As much as possible we will  provide walking tours. You will get the real experience,  the weather, the smell, the people, the textures of buldings, and many other places that might no be on our sampling list.

We will include updates and picutres of our tastings until we have the perfect fit. Once we do, we will be glad to show you what tico food has to offer.
